31 Oct g-Xperts with Location Services on the Retail Day in 2019
The Retail Day of the Austrian Retail Association, held on the 26th of September in Vienna, was very well attended. More than 200 decision-makers discussed retail developments with their partners and representatives. g-Xperts was also represented by Matthias Zacek as a speaker.
The event held in the Vienna Albert Hall was opened by retail association president Stephan Mayer-Heinisch. Interesting topics included: logistics trends in Central and Eastern Europe as well as eco-social tax policy, skills shortages and opportunities of Footfall Analytics, cash in the digital age and Google Maps. One of the highlights of the day was the awarding of the Austrian retail award for outstanding services to Günther Helm, who worked for food retailer Hofer for almost 15 years.
Matthias Zacek, Head of Business Development at g-Xperts since October 1st, explained – already in his new role – together with Till Kreiler, Country Lead Google Maps, Google, the importance of Business Location Services as a success factor in retail. Current location data in Google Maps is essential to generate more traffic as a merchant. Omnichannel is the magic word, especially the positive effects of digital touchpoints on stationary business success. “More than half of all stationary sales are now digitally influenced,” said Matthias Zacek.
The right location data in Google
g-Xperts helps companies set up effective and controlled signposts on the web to guide customers to the right business or the right location. With Business Location Services, the physical locations of companies can be found a lot easier – whether that be shops, service points, ATMs or public transport stops.
The right data ensures more frequency, more sales, and greater customer satisfaction. In addition, the stores have the opportunity to learn from the data on Google My Business and make better decisions. Currently, less than three percent of businesses in Europe fully utilize the power of Google Maps – that’s about to change.
